How it works

The compressor starts with a 250 KB target and attempts to export the selected image with smaller file size while keeping a usable visual result.

This target is useful for strict form uploads, small web thumbnails and situations where mobile bandwidth matters.

Privacy

ResizeKit does not send the selected file to a server. The browser handles preview, compression and download locally.

Limitations

A detailed photo may need resizing before it can fit under 250 KB. PNG output may remain larger because PNG is not quality-compressed like WebP or JPG.

Compress under 250KB FAQ

Why does my image stay above 250KB?

The original dimensions, detail and format may be too large for compression alone.

Can I keep transparency?

PNG and WebP can preserve transparency, but WebP is usually smaller.

Does ResizeKit store my image?

No. It uses temporary browser memory and does not store uploaded files.
